The addition of grated cheese or peanut butter varies the taste slightly.  This is a rolled, chilled and sliced dough, so the preparation time is divided while the dough is chilling.

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup warm water
1/3 cup finely grated cheese, optional OR
1/3 cup peanut butter, optional

Procedure:

ately.  Combine the two, adding a small amount at a time and blending well.  It will be a very stiff dough.  With your hands, shape the dough into an oblong roll, wrap in plastic and chill for about 1 hour.  Preheat the oven to 300 F and lightly grease a sheet pan.  Unwrap dough and slice into 1/4 inch thick slices, placing each on the baking pan.Baking time is about an hour, but start checking after 45 minutes to make sure tjey don't get too browoned.  Allow to cool, serve or store, tightly covered in refrigerator.
