Angel Food Pie

Light as a feather, satisfying the sweet tooth.

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar
1 cup cold water
2 heaping Tbsp cornstarch
2 egg whites, beaten to stiff peaks
1 baked 9 inch pie shell
whipped cream and chopped nuts or chocolate sprinkles for garnish

Procedure:

In a small saucepan, stir the cornstarch into the cold water and then add the sugar, stirring to dissolve.  Heat over medium heat until the mixture is very thick and clear.  Allow to cool completely before pouring into the stiffly beaten egg whites, blending well.  Pour into the baked pie shell and garnish.  Store in the refrigerator if not served immediately.
