Apple Cranberry Sauce

Sweet and tangy sauce to go with an everyday or special occassion holiday meal.

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh cranberries, washed and stemmed
1 Tbsp grated fresh orange peel
3 cups thinly sliced washed peeled and cored apples
1/2 cup water
1 1/4 cups sugar

Procedure:

Place cranberries, apple slices and orange zest in a saucepan, along with the water.  Cook over low heat until the cranberries burst open and the apple slices are soft, about 20 to 30 minutes.  Remove from heat, stir in sugar, stirring until sugar is totally dissolved.  Chill before serving.  Can be prepared the day ahead.
