Hearty Turkey Burgers

The nutrition values are for 1 patty on a split whole wheat bun with nothing else added (like cheese, mayo etc).  For the indoor or outdoor grill, but may also be cooked in a skillet sprayed with baking spray, for 3-4 minutes per side

Ingredients:

1 pound lean ground turkey
1 egg, lightly beaten, or 1/4 cup egg substitute
3/4 cup old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 cup fresh mushrooms, minced
2 Tbsp dried minced onion
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
6 whole wheat hamburger buns

Procedure:

Combine all ingredients except buns, in a medium bowl, mixing well, and then form into 6 half inch thick patties.  Grill 7 minutes on each side, turning once, until juice runs clear.

Serving Size:  1 patty on one hamburger bun is approximately
270 calories, 25 g protein, 4 g fat (1 g saturated), 33 g carbohydrate, 336 mg sodium, 47 mg cholesterol
