No Salt Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix

Packaged mixes are not only high in price, they are incredibly high in salt content.  Do your heart a favor and try this seasoning mix.  These ingredients make enough to season 1 pound of ground beef, chicken or turkey, but this can easily de doubled or triples and stored in an airtight container for later use.  Use about a tablespoon and a half per pound of meat.

Note - many chili powders also contain salt, so if you are on a very restricted sodium intake, please read the labels for content.

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp minced onion, dried if you are doubling or tripling the recipe for later use
1/4 tsp garlc powder
1/2 tsp dry ground mustard
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Adjust amounts to your personal taste

Procedure:

Combine ingredients and mix well.  If you are going to store some for later use, use an airtight glass container, plastic will absorb oils and odors from the spices, and you would sooner have those in your food, not the container.

Serving Size:
Enough to season 1 pound of meat, about 1 1/2 Tbsp
