This was adapted from a recipe calling for an envelope of sloppy joe seasoning mix, which contains an enormous amount
of salt. The nutrition analysis is for no salt added ingredients and seasonings that you probably adready have in your
pantry.
Ingredients:
2 pounds stew beef OR round roast cut into small chunks, trimmed of all visible fat
1 medium onion, chunked, about 1 1/2 cups
1 medium bell pepper, seeded and chunked
3/4 cup water
1 (6oz) can tomato paste, no salt added
2 Tbsp cider vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp ground mustard
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
Procedure:
Layer beef, onion and peppers in crockpot. Mix together the water, tomato paste, vinegar and spices and pour over
the top. Cover and cook on low for about 10 hours, or on high for about 5 hours. May be served over noodles, potatoes,
rice or rolls.
Serving Size: one sixth of recipe is approximately
